Passing Wind

A solo show performed 2008 – 2011

This solo show was a quirky look at how wind instruments work and how they are invented using unexpected materials. Linsey makes Membrane reeds from balloons and rubber gloves, gradually developing themĀ  into the Foonki and the rubber glove bagpipe. He makes panpipes and harmonic flutes from irrigation pipe and there are single reed instruments such as feather duster, watering can andĀ  carrot clarinets. You even get to hear Mr Curly (a contra-bass clarinet made from garden hose). Many of these instruments are made as you watch, like the carrot clarinet. Live looping is used to build funky pieces by recording different layers of sound plus the addition of Kaossilator grooves and kalimba patterns.
